DROITWICH Spa were celebrating after recording their first win of the season in the Midlands Football League Division Two.
Stephen Pitt side footed home from a Jack Connolly cross in the 63rd minute and ensured Spa edged out Paget Rangers.
It means the bottom side are unbeaten in two games with four points.
Joint manager Wayne Oliver was delighted with Droitwich’s hard-working attitude and spirit.
It’s been a great start for Oliver and managerial partner Mark Owen, who took over a fortnight ago.
“It wasn’t the prettiest of games but the players dug deep and worked very hard,” said Oliver.
“We had to weather the storm early on and it took us ten minutes at the start of the second half to get going.
“But we scored a very good goal after a nice move down the left.
“It was backs to the wall at the end but it was great to get the first win, it meant a lot for the team.”
Droitwich will be aiming to record another win against Redditch Borough in the Les James Cup on Saturday (3pm ko).
