DROITWICH Spa lost out after a stirring fight back by Redditch Borough as they slipped to a 5-4 defeat in the Les James Cup on Saturday.

Goals for Jimmy Ward (2), Brett Mould and Henry Davies had put Droitwich into a 4-2 lead.

But they succumbed to a response from the Division Three outfit, who saw Liam Fullerton bag a hat-trick.

Joint manager Wayne Oliver said: “We were disappointed with the way we lost because at 4-2 we should have seen the game out, but we’re not disappointed to be out of the cup.

“By the end we had nothing left in terms of energy and we made individual and team errors.

“This is a competition we couldn’t go all the way to win, so we can concentrate on the league.”

Spa will be missing four or five players when they tackle Badsey Rangers in the Worcestershire Junior Cup at home on Saturday (2pm ko).

Oliver added: “We’re missing a few so we will bring in some reserve team players.”
