Malvern 16, Droitwich 8

DROITWICH produced a much-improved display, despite defeat to high-flying Malvern in Midlands Division Two West (South).

Spa started the brighter with Christopher Danks kicking an early penalty. However, Malvern began to get into the game and scored a try under the posts, which was converted.

Spa were now looking more determined and, after a good phase of play by Robert Poke and Nicholas Godfrey, Spa scored in the corner via Russell Brown.

Some good tackling and turnover play by Mark Strutt enabled the Spa backs to attack the Malvern line, with Daniel Wilkinson going close.

Malvern hit back with another try just before half-time.

A penalty and a try after the break sealed Spa’s defeat.

While Droitwich remain at the foot of the table, this was another improvement from last weekend, with more first team players becoming available.

Spa travel to Newbold on Avon on Saturday.
