FAIRFIELD Villa filled their boots to see off Worcester Raiders 7-3 to book their place in the Worcestershire Junior Cup semi-finals.

Early goals for Connor Collins and Thomas Cunningham-Smith had put the Recreation Ground outfit into an early 2-0 lead.

But Villa were reduced to ten men when Oliver Booth was harshly shown a straight red card in the 20th minute.

Raiders pulled a goal but Fairfield rallied and made sure their disadvantage did not affect them as Collins bagged two more, while Ellis Blakemore and John Pykett also hit the back of the net.

Joint manager Paul Oakes said: "The players showed a lot of character to win the game.

"To lose a man and then concede a goal was a test but luckily we went onto get the all-important third and never look back.

"There's no doubt we're keen to progress in this competition."

Villa face a defensive reshuffle for Saturday's trip to Midlands Division Two leaders Coventry United (2pm ko).

With Lewis Cosgrove and Chris Pratt starting two-game suspensions and Steve Frost injured, Villa are hoping to bring in at least one player.

They face a Coventry side who have won seven of the last nine games in all competititons.
