BROMSGROVE Ladies D remain unbeaten and top of the table in Winter League Division Eight after getting the better of Stourbridge.

The encounter proved to be a tight contest, but two great wins by Sheila Richardson and Di Wilson were just enough to get victory as Catherine Maund with Connie Wedelich went down in both their matches.

The win keeps Bromsgrove at the top of the table and promotion is beckoning if this form can be continued. Captain Connie Wedelich said: “We knew Stourbridge would be a tough side to play so to win away and maintain our unbeaten run is a real bonus.”

It’s been a late start for the Mixed A team with their first Division Two match played on Saturday against Droitwich B.

The squad of Steve Jones with Hannah Weston and Oliver Simper with Kelly Kenward cruised to a 4-0 win without dropping a set to give them the perfect start to their campaign.

Kenward was delighted with the result, saying: “The way the fixture list has worked out meant we have had a long wait for our opening match, but with such a good win under our belts I’m optimistic we’ll being fighting for promotion.”
