FAIRFIELD Villa have wished goal machine Connor Collins the best of luck after he joined Conference North outfit Worcester City.

Collins, who has dual registration with City, has been in great form for the Recreation Ground outfit and bagged a brace in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Chelmsley Town.

The forward has caught the attention of City boss Carl Heeley and tops the Midlands Division Two’s scoring stats with 28 goals in 21 games.

Villa have drafted in Anton Gardner-Bennett from Cadbury Athletic Reserves, who has scored six goals in 12 games, as his replacement.

They also still boast John Pykett and Ellis Blakemore, who have scored 23 goals between them.

Joint manager Paul Oakes said: “Connor has done tremendously well.

“He’s training with Worcester now and is trying to impress Carl Heeley and break into the team.

“He’s lovely lad with a great attitude and we wish him the best of luck.

“Anton has been recommended by Connor and his signing is a continuation of our policy of bringing in players with potential.”

Villa though got back on track with a thrilling win over Chelmsley in the league on Saturday.

Chelmsley had players shown straight red cards in each half but at one stage had battled back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2.

While Connor Collins scored in each half, Matthew Collins also hit the target before super-sub Thomas Cunningham-Smith came off the bench to register.

Oakes said: “It was a crazy game.

“The two penalties we conceded were very soft but saying that, our spot-kick for the third was also debatable.

“Thomas has a habit of coming off the bench and scoring, which is great to see.”

Fairfield have rose to fourth in the table and welcome back Ryan Molesworth for Saturday’s derby at Droitwich Spa (2pm ko).

Villa will be aiming to avenge a 3-1 home loss over Christmas against a Spa team who have made it three wins in a row.

Oakes added: “Droitwich deserved to beat us over Christmas so we’re hoping to get our own back.

“Mark Owen and Warren Oliver are doing a very good job and when a team is playing well it raises the intensity of the rivalry.

“We were missing a few players the last time we played but we’ve got almost everyone available, so hopefully we can put in a better display.”

Villa are fourth in the league but have struggled for consistency.
