CUTNALL Green suffered a defeat at the hands of Wolverton in the Midlands finals of the ECB National Indoor Championships last week.
Wolverton won the toss and elected to bat first, losing a wicket in the first over to Paul Hutchins.
Some very tight bowling by the Green, especially Neil Evans and Ted Baylis, who conceded just 19 runs from their six overs, backed up by some very good fielding, restricted Wolverton to 96 all out in their 12 overs.
In reply, Cutnall Green got off to a good start, scoring 37 off the first four overs, well ahead of the required run out.
However, Matt Harris’ retirement on 25 coincided with a lack of runs, with just 13 scored in the next three overs for the loss of three wickets.
With four overs to go, Cutnall Green needed 35 runs with only Harris and Baylis left in.
With 21 runs needed in two overs, Green’s run chase was cut short when Harris (36) was clean bowled, while Baylis was dismissed with just five more needed for victory.
