FIGHTERS from Droitwich Amateur Boxing Academy have certainly been doing the rounds and maintaining the club’s reputation in recent contests.

Joe Doyle, 12, rubber stamped his outstanding promise with a clear cut points win over Welsh champion Konnor Crocker at Evesham.

Doyle took every round against a talented and experienced opponent to take his impressive record to nine wins from 11 bouts and he will be hoping to continue his form in next month’s National Championships.

On the same bill, there was another eye-catching performance from Richard Evans, 15, who was buoyed by a strong opening round and finish to secure his second points decision in a week with victory over Josh Lovell from Swansea.

Fresh from representing England in a match against Wales at Hereford, star welterweight Michael Pardoe just failed to land the Central England Elite Welterweight belt as he lost out on a points decision to Coventry’s Michael Green.

Elsewhere, Sian O’Toole scored a stunning points victory over the more experienced Sheila Bennett from Surrey, in Stourport taking every round with her sharp clean punching.

Sophie Morton, 12, also enjoyed a good win when she travelled to Swindon and outpointed local boxer Hannah O’Brien.

There were also gutsy performances from heavyweight Dave Jenvey, 13-year-olds Clarence Hall, Danny Evans and Liam Jones, and from Lewis Smith, 15, who all lost close decisions but were in no way disgraced.
