BROMSGROVE Tennis Club have taken their good winter season form into the summer.

For the first time, the club have entered a men’s under-18 team in the Aegon national competition to give rising stars a chance to pit themselves against their contemporaries.

Captained by Ollie Stratford, they took on Belbroughton on Saturday and came out comfortable 6-0 winners.

The squad of Jack Walters, Aaron Oakes and Peter Petrakis, with captain Stratford, all put in commanding performances.

Sunday saw the Men’s Aegon 'A' and 'B' teams in action and again it was good news.

The 'A' team travelled to Malvern to take on Manor Park in Division and earned a hard-fought 4-2 win, with captain Matt Kirkham was well supported by James Griffiths, Adam Dudek and Jaspal Saimbi.

Playing at home, the 'B' team overwhelmed Stourport 'B' and were never in danger of dropping a set as they strolled to a comprehensive 6-0 win to go top of Division Three.

Stratford and Jack Walters showed how well they are developing and were partnered by Steve Jones and Matt Smith.

The Ladies 'E' team travelled to David Lloyd Worcester to play their 'D' team in Division Eight.

In a tight match, their determination shone through as they took it 4-2.

Avril Pugh and Margaret Harris won both their contests ,while Sue Corfield with Chris Mitchell and Alison Douglas with Carol Cornelissen each won one and lost one.

Finally, the Mixed 'D' team made it two out of two as they edged victory against Hallow by six sets to four with rubbers even.

This puts them at the top of Division Six.

Junior George Rogers made an impressive debut with Alison Douglas as they lost a close three-set tussle against the Hallow first pair, before having a straightforward two-set win against the second pair.
