IT was a testing time for Bromsgrove’s men’s teams this weekend.

With a number of key players unavailable they had two Aegon League matches.

The A team took on Redditch HDA and called up Ollie Stratford and Steve Jones from the B side to help out Steve Halfpenny and Adam Dudek.

In a close match, the first round of singles proved conclusive.

Dudek fought a long, hard three-set battle against his Redditch opponent and emerged victorious to give Bromsgrove a 3-1 lead going into the doubles With the doubles shared, Bromsgrove ran out 4-2 winners to remain unbeaten in Division One.

The depleted B team travelled to Droitwich for a Division Three clash against a strong squad and were never really in the match.

The only bright side was that it gave some players their first taste of the Aegon format of playing both singles and doubles in a match.
