DROITWICH Spa CC enjoyed a clean sweep of victories on Saturday as all four sides clinched impressive wins.

In Worcestershire Division One, the firsts secured a fantastic 31-run win over Hagley and were indebted to superb showings from Connor Grant and Jake Young, who provided match-winning performances with the bat and ball respectively.

With the help of veteran Paul Bryan, Grant rescued his side from 56-4 with a swashbuckling cameo of 61 that added 110 runs for the fifth wicket in 22 overs.

Their partnership was invaluable and helped Spa post a total of 231.

At the halfway stage of the Hagley innings, the match was evenly poised with the visitors in the hunt at 112-4 before the introduction of leg spinner Young swung the game back in Droitwich’s favour.

With arguably his best spell of the year, Young bowled with great control and spun the ball sharply to pick-up two crucial wickets which proved pivotal in clinching the victory.

In only his second innings since the end of the 2013 campaign, James Hancher hit his second successive century to maintain Droitwich seconds' winning momentum and move them into the top half of the table for the first time this season.

The opener scored 128 as his side cruised to a nine-wicket success at Lye, where Rhys John also made a patient 53.

Another Spa centurion was Jez Hanson, who notched his maiden ton in the Fourths’ crushing 171-run victory over Kidderminster Victoria. Hanson carried his bat with a beautiful innings of 140 not out and he shared an opening stand of 137 with James King, who made 56, as the home side amassed 307-4.

The thirds remain top of their league after a convincing 92-run win at fellow promotion hopefuls Harborne, where youngsters Tommy Ross and Dave Purchase both made half-centuries.
