ALVECHURCH boss Ian Long has said Dunkirk will be a test of his side's decent start to the season.

The Lye Meadow outfit bounced back from a surprise 4-0 loss against AFC Wulfrunians with two wins in a week.

A 2-1 success over Continental Star, with Leigh Downing on target and an own goal by Jordan McIntosh.

Church then booked their place in the preliminary round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win over Heath Hayes, with goals for Downing, Josh March and Nigel Penny on target.

It books them an away trip to Stourport Swifts in the next round on Saturday, August 29.

But Long feels Dunkirk away on Saturday (3pm ko) will be his side's stiffest test of the season.

The Nottingham-based side suffered a 4-1 loss at Hereford but have since then saw off Sporting Khalsa in Midland Premier and Bardon Hill in the FA Cup.

Long said: "I think Dunkirk will be a much stiffer test than we've had so far and should be a tough game than the last two matches.

"I thought we played better in the last two matches and could have scored more goals.

"We want to be challenging and we'll have a better idea of where we are after Saturday."

Church will be without Sam Williams (holiday), while defender Luke Paskin continues to recover from injury.

He played 45 minutes on Sunday and set to go out on loan to aid his recovery.

Alvechurch then take on Lye Town at home next Tuesday (7.45pm ko).
