BROMSGROVE Sporting have been handed the possibility of a mouthwatering FA Cup showdown with local rivals Redditch.

Monday's draw for the first qualifying round saw Sporting and Reds drawn together - if the Rouslers can first negotiate Saturday's tie with Midland League rivals Hinckley.

Boss Paul Smith speaking ahead of last night's league clash with Littleton said the prospect of the old rivals meeting was one to relish.

"Straight after the draw I was getting texts from players and fans, it's really created a bit of a buzz," he said.

"It's a bit more of carrot for us than it is for Hinckley "It is a tough game for us but that said it's a team out of our league, a team who have had a similar start to us, a team we beat last season and though it is tough it's winnable and one I would go into expecting a result.

"It's a game that has got everyone buzzing and it will be huge if we can get through."

Bromsgrove picked up a 2-0 win at Stafford Town on Saturday to add to two draws and a win previously, as well as progress in the FA Cup.

"We've been missing our chances in games but have been the better side in games, but still not playing as well as I think we could. But if we can play as well as we have been and keeping working as hard as we have, plus take our chances we are going to win games of football.

"Stafford was tough but I thought we controlled it and it was a well deserved win.

"The league is harder this year with maybe six of seven teams who could win it and Coventry United have stolen a march on the rest.

"There are some clubs who might find it easier to lose a game or two but in my shoes, we have expectation because of the history, 200-250 people turning up expecting success. That puts a pressure on us and even though we are 18 unbeaten if you take last season as well there are still people who happy with this and that, so I don't know what it will be like if we do lose a game. It's going to be a long, old season."

Any cup replay would take place at Hinckley on Monday but if there is a result either way then Bromsgrove will be on their travels to Pilkington XXX.
