JOINT Fairfield Villa boss Paul Oakes believes a top-five finish in Division Two of the Midland League is still on despite their slow start to the season.

A last-gasp goal at home to leaders Alvis saw them slip to a 3-2 defeat despite a brace from Macauley Finch pulling them back to 2-2.

That followed a goalless draw at Feckenham on Thursday.

“We need to start getting back to winning ways,” said Oakes. “I feel we have the squad to break into that top five and build on last year.

“We were disappointed after the Feckenham game with the performance – it felt like two points lost, more so than we did against Alvis.”

Fairfield have a midweek off before entertaining Sutton United on Saturday and then going to Barnt Green on Monday.
