IAN Long hopes the fans will start coming out in force to watch his in-form side.

Alvechurch are flying high in the Midlands Premier and Saturday's 3-0 win at Shepshed Dynamo was their seventh win in a row in the league.

Going into tomorrow night's home clash against Coventry Sphinx (7.45pm ko), Church are fourth in the table, just one point off the top spot with games in hand on all their rivals above.

Long said: "We get a hardcore of about ten fans who follow us home and away but when you see how big crowds help clubs like Hereford I would love to see a few more fans come in.

"The attendances started off very well but we lost the first game of the season and I think the fans thought 'more of the same'.

"But we've won seven matches in a row and are playing some good football, so I hope they can come down and support the lads.

"We've kept three clean sheets in a row and scored seven goals in those games.

"It hasn't helped that we have had three away games in a row."

Karl Edwards continued his fine scoring form with a brace on Saturday, making it ten already in a fruitful campaign, while Sam Williams also added a third.

Jordan Nadat made his debut and also produced a pleasing display for Long.

The forward, who also had a spell at Hinckley this season, is only a month's loan from Sutton Coldfield but the Alvechurch manager is hoping to persuade him to stay longer.

He said: "Jordan is good with his back to goal, is aggressive and has an eye for a pass.

"We needed cover for Karl because if he got injured we'd be a bit short up front.

"But I would love Jordan to stay, he's a very good player."

Alvechurch go to Division One outfit Pilkington XXX in the FA Vase on Saturday (3pm ko) and the Birmingham-based side have not played a competitive game since the win September 19.
