BARNT Green skipper Andy Sutton has urged some of his players to start showing more commitment after they were forced to field an under strength side against league leaders Wolverhampton this week.

The Green lost out by five wickets with Sutton admitting: "Availability is becoming a big problem which the club needs to address.

"We can't keep chopping and changing the team all the time.

"At the moment it's a different side every week because some players are picking and choosing their games.

"As a result, we haven't been able to select the same side two games running.

"Against Wolverhampton, we made the best of what we'd got and fought our hardest. But a total of 125 to defend was never going to be enough.

"Josh Poysden did really well, coming in at No.8 and getting 42 off 45 balls because the pitch was doing quite a bit.

"But that said, we had Wolverhampton at 50 for five before Wasim Jaffer changed the game.

"He still has the quality to play first class cricket and gave a wonderful example of how to build an innings and chase down a total."

Poysden apart, Barnt Green struggled to make any impact with the bat against Wolverhampton's strike bowlers Johannes Bothma and Usman Arif.

The pair reduced the Green to 50 for seven at one stage before Poysden instigated some tail end resistance.

Bothma finally bagged five for 58 off 15 overs while Arif finished on five for 66 from 14 overs.

Poysden applied further pressure with the ball by taking three for 34 with his leg spin while Sutton supported with two for 65.

But they couldn't remove Jaffer who made 71 not out off 86 balls, his innings including 12 fours.

Barnt Green have a great chance to turn matters around this Saturday when they visit rock bottom Leamington Spa.

Sutton added: "I'd rather have players who are available week in, week out rather than keep changing the side. Not only do we suffer, but it also impacts on the two or three teams below us."
