BROMSGROVE Sporting boss Paul Smith was pleased to see his side bounce back to pick up three points against Heather St Johns on Monday.
The Rouslers responded to Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Cadbury Athletic to win 3-0.
They sit top of the table Midlands Division One after five games with 13 points, level with Lichfield but with a better goal difference.
Smith said: “Saturday’s performance was very disappointing and I was scratching my head about it because we had played so well in the first four games.
“We had a good talk after the game and made it clear what is expected of them.
“But it was a good response by the team, this is the best Heather team I have seen in years and we were too good."
Sporting have a free weekend because their opponents Stafford Town are unable to play at home because of the installation of a 4G pitch and failing to find an alternative venue to play the game.
Bromsgrove’s next game is on Saturday, September 10, in the FA Vase against Ellistown and Ibstock United.
Smith said: “It’s frustrating not to be playing a game for nearly two weeks.
“Stafford are putting in a new pitch but there’s no excuse not to have found somewhere else to play.
“Redditch United are in the same situation but have managed to fulfill their fixtures.
“We’re trying to organise a game for next Tuesday just to keep us sharp.”
