BROMSGROVE Sporting bosses have promised they'll be no let up after their record breaking 13-0 thrashing of luckless Leicestershire side Ellistown and Ibstock in Saturday's FA Vase.

The tie had been switched to Bromsgrove as Ellistown's ground was being used to stage a dog show.

Ellistown arrived at the Victoria Ground having lost all eight of their East Midlands League matches and rampant Sporting were quick to take advantage.

To make matters worse for Ellistown, they lost three players en route to ground after they were involved in a traffic accident on the M1.

Two of the players were taken to hospital, although their injuries were later described as not serious, while the driver was in too much shock to play.
Ironically Ellistown manager Darren Price drove past the accident, not realising it was his own players that were involved.

It meant Ellistown having to reshuffle their ranks and starting with players who were still nursing injuries.

Their prospects plummeted even further when they had goalkeeper Keaton Sharpe sent off following two yellow cards when Ellistown were 3-0 down.
Such was Sporting's prowess in front of goal, that the tie was well and truly wrapped up by half time with a 7-0 scoreline.

Tony Clarke led the scoring with four goals while Sean Brain bagged a hat-trick.
There was also a brace of goals from Ahmed Ali,  Chris Conway and Aaron Roberts to compound Ellistown's misery.

The irony was that manager Paul Smith missed the onslaught while away in in Spain  and left his assistants Adam Cunningham and Brendan Kelly in charge.

Cunningham claimed: "Paul set the side up before he left, so we were left with just one or two decisions to make.

"But we'd buried them by half time that the contest was over.

"Yet I was more pleased with the second half performance, because it would have been very easy to have taken our foot off the accelerator.

Instead we kept working hard and the attitude of the players was great.

"The players all know they have to perform this season because we have such a strong strong. If someone isn't doing their job properly, then somebody else will come in to take their place.

"Remarkably, Ellistown started quite well . But once the first goal went in, they just fell apart."

Sporting now take on West Midlands League Division One side Tipton Town in the next round which is scheduled for September 24.

Sporting have no time to rest on their laurels as they face a tricky trip away to Coventry Copsewood on Saturday.

Copsewood caused an upset when they beat league leaders Lichfield City last Saturday and Cunningham  insists Sporting must take advantage.

He confirmed: "Copsewood did us a big favour by beating Lichfield but now we must follow up and go and do a job on them as well."

Sporting will host Midland Football League Premier side Sporting Khalsa next Tuesday night in the Polymac Packaging League Cup.

Joe Haines has left Sporting to join Premier Division side Walsall Wood,  while Danny Ludlow returns to the Victoria Ground following a spell with West Midland League side Cradley Town.
