BROMSGROVE brought down the curtain on their Birmingham League Division One campaign with a compelling 85 run triumph over title chasing Brockhampton.

Jayden Levitt lashed 113 off 93 balls as Bromsgrove posted 252 all out and then bowled out Brockhampton for 167 with almost 14 overs to spare.

Bromsgrove skipper Mark Evenson described the display as one of their best of the season, he said: "We played an almost perfect game. It was that good, I wish we could bottle it up and sell it."

"Apart from our win over Himley, I can't think of a better performance this season."

Evenson promoted 15-year-old leg spin bowler Sam Johnson and brought in Mark Burrell from the thirds and both had games to remember.

Burrell shared a stand of 79 with Levitt for the fifth wicket, while Johnson took the final Brockhampton wicket to fall.

Evenson said: "After the game, I was sorting out lifts for everyone and our Worcestsershire allocated player Alexei Kervezee offered to take the youngsters back to Bromsgrove. It made their day.

"All the youngsters look up to Alexei. Whenever he's available to play, it gives everyone a huge lift.

"This has been his 10th season at Bromsgrove after joining the county as a 16-year-old and he has been absolutely brilliant for us.

"He has one more year left on his contract with Worcestershire and while its massive when he plays for us, I'd much rather see him playing first class cricket."

Kervezee underlined his value to Bromsgrove making 43 at Brockhampton and then taking three for 29 with the ball.

It meant the Dutch international finished the season second in the Birmingham League Division One run scoring charts with 919 behind Smethwick overseas player Amitoze Singh.

Evenson added: "It's been a disappointing season and we didn't finish as high as we wanted to be. The lads have asked if I'd stay on as captain and I'll possibly give it one more year if that's what the club wants.

"I want to finish on a high and I would love to get Bromsgrove promoted again."
