DROITWICH Spa head to fellow high-fliers Alvis Sporting Club on Saturday (3pm) hoping to kick off a run of wins to challenge at the top of Midland Football League Division Two.

An inconsistent week had seen Spa lose 2-0 at Knowle before securing a fine 4-2 win at Redditch Borough.

But Spa failed to build on the result and were held 3-3 by local rivals Feckenham.

Droitwich, who moved up to second as a result, now have a tough clash at third-placed Alvis with the Coventry side unbeaten in seven league games with five victories.

Earlier, Spa romped to a 7-2 league win at Feckenham and then won 1-0 at the Studley-based club in the President’s Cup this month.

They looked good for completing the treble over the villagers last weekend as Jamie Smith and Haydn Morris fired them 2-0 up after 17 minutes.

Ben Cox and Jordan Adams dragged Feckenham back to 2-2 by the half-hour only for Nick Seabourne to lob the hosts ahead at half-time.

But Spa could not put the game beyond their visitors in a quiet second period and Cox struck from 25 yards in the 71st minute to level.

Feckenham’s Jack Brimmell had a potential winner disallowed and skipper Daniel Williams cleared an injury-time volley from Bradley Burgess off the line.

Droitwich side Korono secured a 3-3 draw at home to Worcester Athletic in McDonald’s Worcester and District League Division Two with goals from Lewis Jones, Thomas Middleton and Bradley Smith.

In Division Three Kempsey won 3-1 at leaders Droitwich Spa Eagles.

There was a double for Seb Parker of The Bull Inn, who beat Droitwich Athletic 4-1 with Jonathon Barber and Thomas Birchley also netting.

Phil Bridges pulled a goal back.

Simon Jones scored twice as Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves crashed 8-2 at table-toppers Lower Teme and Martley in Division Four.

Spa Athletic won 6-4 against Hewell in Bromsgrove League Centenary Cup with Luke Rainbow’s hat-trick.
