MIKE Burke has been elected as chairman of Bromsgrove Sporting following the club's AGM last week.

He takes over from vice chairman Jeff Rea who had been holding the reins after Jon Prescott died last July.

Mike brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the town's premier football club having been vice chairman and a director at Halesowen Town until a couple of years ago.

Originally from Wednesbury, Mike is also a successful businessman, owning and running The Big Pet Store in Halesowen which is one of Sporting's major sponsors this season.

Mike said: "Bromsgrove Sporting is a big club with a large and enthusiastic fan base, who like me are ambitious and would like to see us move forward to play at a higher level.

"Since getting involved, I have been impressed as to how friendly and passionate everybody is here from directors to the coaches and players through to the fans on the terraces.

"We have a highly motivated and experienced management team who have the potential to take the team further."
