TOP of the table Alvechurch made light work of struggling Tividale by coasting to a 4-0 win at Lye Meadow.

The Church made it nine straight league wins to move two points clear of closest rivals Lye Town who were held to a goalless draw by Coventry United.

Leading marksman Josh March got the ball rolling for Church with his 20th league goal of the term while Jamie Ashmore, Danny Dubidat and Dave Bellis belted home further goals to seal the points.

Church boss Ian Long said: "It was a very comfortable win. We were 3-0 up at half time and the players took their foot off the gas - even though I told them not to."

"I had to put them right afterwards and remind them they wouldn't be able to coast against one of the better sides.

"In truth we didn't really play that well but our finishing was clinical."

The Church entertain Leicester side St Andrews this Saturday looking to improve on the 1-1 draw when the sides met earlier in the season where the men from Lye Meadow had two players sent off.

Mark Smith will be missing along with Ryan Winwood who is still sidelined with a dislocated shoulder.

The Church have also received seven days notice from Highgate United for Orrin Pedley.

Church were due to face Northern Premier League frontrunners Rushall Olympic in a friendly fixture this week.
