TABLE-topping hosts Droitwich Spa were stunned by Redditch Borough as their professional and dominant display clinched a 2-0 win in Midland Football League Division Two.

Spa's first league defeat of 2017 was only their second at home of the season as they missed Mike Seeley (unavailable) and Max Crisp (suspended).

They started brightly without troubling visiting keeper Ryan Young and had a couple of penalty shouts turned down.

But fifth-placed Borough soon took over with a neat passing game and broke through on 20 minutes when Garrath Hodgetts cut in from the right and looped a 25-yarder in off the bar.

Further chances fell to Redditch before the break but all were comfortably saved by keeper Matt Oliver.

Droitwich hit the bar twice and had another effort cleared off the line but a poor Oliver kick fell to Liam Fullerton 20 minutes from time and he completed the scoring.

But Alvis Sporting Club lost 2-0 at home to Paget Rangers, meaning Spa, who visit sixth-placed Sutton United on Saturday (3pm), remain nine points ahead at the top having played six games more.
