BROMSGROVE tennis players travelled to Evesham for a vital Worcestershire Winter League Division 4E mixed team match.
With four points separating the top five sides, there was everything to play for and that was reflected in a close-run contest.
Connie Wedelich and Trevor Errington cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win in the opening round of matches but Di Inchley and Voitek Niedezwiedz lost a three set battle 1-6, 6-4, 3-6.
Wedelich and Errington then lost their reverse contest 4-6, 3-6 but Inchley and Niedzwiedz prevailed in another three set epic 6-7, 6-1, 6-1.
That left the contest level on rubbers and sets but Bromgrove were victorious 47-39 on games won.
The six points picked up by Bromsgrove from this victory leaves them top of the table, but with only one match remaining, the result of Evesham v Kidderminster will decide which teams grab the two promotion places.
