Rogers impresses with the bat as Alvechurch and Hopwood hold their nerve
EDD Rogers reeled off an impressive 77 as Alvechurch and Hopwood held their nerve to secure a 24 run success over second from bottom side Martley in Worcester County League Division Three.
Rogers received plenty of support with Matt Hayward 28, Liam Hall 26 and Sohail Malik 21 helping the scoreboard to tick over as Alvechurch reached 205 for six from their 50 overs.
Malik and Hall both managed to keep Martley in check when they replied, reducing them to 181 all out in the 36th over.
Hall helped himself to figures of four for 17 from just 28 balls while Malik claimed four for 40 from eight overs.
The result means Alvechurch remain fifth in the table ahead of Saturday's trip to Five Ways Old Edwardians.
