DROITWICH judo clubs won medals at the British Special Needs Championships at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Aylesbury.

Eve Skillern from Droitwich Spa Judo Kan secured a gold medal in her category with good techniques and excellent hold-downs.

Tyler Hall, in his first special needs event, came away with a silver.

Liam Jones took on some tough opponents with determination and skill to achieve a silver.

Meanwhile, the town’s Kazoku-Kan Judo Club’s Felicity Warburton, 12, claimed a silver to put her top of the group’s prestigious medal listings.

She showed a variety of techniques and was only beaten by a Special Olympics gold medallist who was four years older.

Kazoku-Kan instructor Rich Morrish said: “The whole day was purely inspirational.

“It wasn’t about winning or losing out there. The level of competition was amazing.

“Seeing so many people with varying additional needs getting out there and giving it their all was very humbling to say the least. Felicity has a very bright judo career ahead of her.”
