DROITWICH Spa started their Worcestershire Women’s Hockey League Division Two season with a 2-0 defeat at Kings Heath Pickwick.
Gabriella Prendiville, captain Claire Derby and Jenny Hewlett went close to scoring.
But Heath scored twice despite the efforts of Spa’s player of the match Caitlyn Denby in her first game for the side.
The seconds lost 3-1 at Stourport fifths in a friendly ahead of the Division Three season.
Rachel Cooper pulled a goal back late on.
Spa men beat Evesham 7-0 in a friendly thanks to goals from Crag Timmis (2), Lee Wakelam (2), Tommy Ross (2) and Richard Woodward.
Spa badgers drew 1-1 at Evesham White with Ross Dyson scoring and defender Joe Cairns voted player of the match.
