DROITWICH Spa Judo Kan duo Megan Skillern and Heather Beard clinched medals at the East Midlands Area Open.

Skillern who is supported by Rivers Fitness at Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre, fought with determination and a lot of focus to secure gold in the over 50kgs section.

Beard also gained success in Leicester when she entered the under 50kgs category. It was her first competition.

But she showed knowledge and understanding of judo throughout her fights. Beard overcame her initial nerves to take home a bronze medal.

A spokesperson from Droitwich Spa Judo Kan said: “We as a club have had a fair amount of success over the few months.

“We are so pleased that we have a great bunch of kids that all support one another.”
