DROITWICH’S Kazoku-Kan Judo Club sent several members to two competitions.

Liam Jones and Sophie Kenny attended the SN Open in Hampshire.

Jones won all three fights to secure his first gold medal.

Kenny, in her first competition in two-and-a-half years, put up a great fight against bigger, stronger opponents, including an Olympic medallist, and came away with a bronze.

Club head coach Rob Alloway was fifth against strong competition.

At the Bushi Judo Club’s annual event in Erdington, Jordan Phillips enjoyed two decisive victories and secured a silver medal.

Felicity Warburton produced some of her best judo to beat two rivals and walk away with a silver as well.

Eleanor Warburton tackled two categories and had her last contest in the 15-17 year section as a junior in the association.

She secured a silver with two victories and then competed in the senior category which is 16-plus as a junior grade.

Her opposition was tough but she bagged a bronze medal on her way to being ranked a senior orange belt.

Instructor Rich Morrish said: “These kids are amazing and a great example of how to carry yourself not only in judo but in life.

“We are incredibly proud of them all. They go out there and show everyone what they are capable of each and every time.

“At the end of the day it’s all about them and what they achieve. We are just the teachers. They go out there and put into action what they learn each week.”

Kazoku-Kan train every Friday at Physique Fitness, Berry Hill Industrial Estate, from 6.30pm.
