BARNSTORMING Bromsgrove continue to sweep all before them in Midlands One West this season after reeling off an eighth straight win when beating fifth placed Moseley Oak 29-10 at fortress Finstall Park.

Head coach Dan Protherough couldn't hide his delight at this victory and admitted: "It was a real test. We hardly managed to touch the ball in the first 20 minutes but we defended really well during this period.

"Moseley Oak have links with Birmingham Moseley and had top Championship player Ollie Thomas operating at No.10.

"But we responded really well and managed to pick up the bonus point for good measure.

"We scored two tries in the first half despite only having around 45 per cent of possession. Although Moseley Oak had more of the ball, we were much more clinical when in possession."

Tries from full back Chris Hooper, blindside flanker Jake Abbot, centre Ed Spalding and left wing Josh Holt made sure of the extra point, fly-half James Upton converting three of the tries and then landed a penalty.

Protherough added: "Every game is proving a challenge at the moment but we have to concentrate on what we do well and not focus too much on the opposition.

"We're finding that some sides in this division don't travel too well and that they prove a much different proposition when they're at home.

"This Saturday's opponents Rugby Lions reflect that with their home form beingt particularly strong, while struggling on the road.

"We haven't traveled particularly well ourselves this season and been slow to get off the bus at times.

"But the game at Rugby represents an important point, because it will mean we will have played all the top sides."

Rugby at Bromsgrove continues to thrive with the club again putting our four sides this week.

Protherough said: "We have two sides that train every week which gives us strength in depth, while we have two more social sides, which is equally important to the club."
