DROITWICH Athletics Club will host their annual half-marathon in the town on Sunday, March 4.

The event is open to all runners aged over 17 who are up for a challenging 13.1 miles around the countryside surrounding Spa.

The scenic, undulating road race takes competitors around the quiet country lanes of Salwarpe, Ladywood, Hadley, Porters Mill and Fernhill Heath.

It finishes at Droitwich Spa High School's athletics track.

Plenty of parking, changing facilities and refreshments are available courtesy of the sponsors.

Rivers Leisure — among those backing the event — will provide goody bags and facilities for all competitors on the day.

All finishers will also receive a medal and training tech shirt.

Race director Martin Smith said: "The club is proud to host this annual event.

"We attract runners from all over neighbouring counties and the popularity for this event is growing, especially as many schedule our event in their training calendars for various marathons mainly due to its timing in the racing calendar for London or Manchester."

Limited spaces are available and entries close on Tuesday, February 28.
