Saxons toast success

DROITWICH Saxons RFC are toasting title success in the Hereford and Worcester Merit League Divison One.

The Saxons, the second XI at Droitwich RFC, won a thrilling title decider 27-25 against Malvern thirds.

After losing their first game of the season, the Saxons young squad have not beaten since.

They were forced to come from behind after Malvern took the lead with an early try but by the break were ahead 20-13, as veteran scrum-half Chris Burgess bossed the pack.

The second-half was a tense affair as Malvern rallied but the hosts held on for a narrow win.
