THERE was local success at the Worcestershire Point-to-Point in Chaddesley Corbett on Saturday as Himbleton teenager Emily Rucker rode to victory.

The 16-year-old replaced mother Angela, who had injured her shoulder, to ride Petit Lord and saw off a competitive field in the members race.

The young rider had came storming through to take the lead between the final two fences, throwing caution to the wind at the last where her bravery paid off because she secured a race winning lead that was maintained.

“That’s given me more pleasure than a lot of our recent winners” said Emily’s father William.

Murphys Fusilier, rode by Connor Shoeman, saw off the strong challenge of favourite Openditch to win the confined race for Broome-based Helen Needham.

The biggest event of the day was the Lady Dudley Cup. With local hope Cedrus Libani reluctant to race, Rosies Peacock and Findlay’s Find battled for glory, which was sealed by the former.
