SPORTING recovered from a poor defensive display to share the points with Coventry Copsewood in Midland Combination Premier Division.

They allowed Copsewood to claim a second minute lead when Petajon Gordon rode several half-hearted and ineffective challenges before side-footing the ball home beyond the reach of Sporting goalkeeper Reece Francis.

After being denied a strong penalty appeal, Jon Rogers equalised for Sporting on 33 minutes, collecting Chris Conway’s flick before rounding Copsewood goalkeeper Scott Furlong and sliding home.

Curtis Jackson restored Copsewood’s lead four minutes later when firing home from the edge of the box.

Worse followed for Sporting when Craig Civelis converted from the penalty spot just before half time after Aaron Roberts had brought down Jackson.

Sporting dictated play in the second-half when playing down the slope and clawed a goal back on 62 minutes when Nick Martin netted from close range following some fabulous work from James Blake.

Conway then equalised for Sporting on 69 minutes when turning on the edge of the area to fire a low shot past Furlong.
