Trio go to Stratford

THE close season is red hot at The Victoria ground as new Bromsgrove boss John Snape continues to re-shape and build his squad.

Five players left this week, two of whom who have only been at the club for two weeks and three who have joined old manager Rod Brown at his Stratford Town revolution.

Chris McHale, Tom Warmer and Barry Woolley will all make the trip to the Midland Alliance outfit, with Jimmy Dormand likely to join them.

Two recent signings from Tamworth, Shawn Boothe and Nathaniel Sturridge-Parker have opted to join their old manager Daren Fulford who has been appointed at Atherstone Town.

But Snape is hoping to swoop on another Midland Alliance outfit, Cradley Town, for former Bromsgrove forward Marlon Walters, and club captain JJ Cole.

He is also hoping to sign a defender and midfielder from Midland Combination outfit Castle Vale and former West Bromwich Albion youth team player Adrian Manchester.

Snape said all the players going to Stratford had his best wishes but expressed surprise that they had gone to play at a lower level.

He said: “They are all great lads – I have known them in football for years and I wish them well.

“But I am surprised they have dropped down a level because they will be playing in front of smaller crowds and we are trying to build something here.

“I don’t know whether it is for money, I wouldn’t like to say but if they have gone for an extra bit of money a week it is a shame because we are definitely looking to bring the good times back here.

“People talk about potential in clubs, well that is in abundance here and I am trying to get players in who want to be a part of it so that is what I am looking for.

“Anyone who doesn’t want that can gowith my best wishes.”

Snape was also hoping to sign Atherstone’s Dominic Reece but he has opted to join his former manager Jimmy Ginnelly at Shepshed.

The home friendly with Halesowen Town on Saturday July 18 against Halesowen Town has now been confirmed, and Bromsgrove are hoping to pencil in one more fixture, possibly against Redditch, on August 1.
