Last gasp Campbell strike wins it for Rovers
9:26am Monday 14th December 2009 in Sport
Bromsgrove Rovers 1 Rothwell Town 0
A dramatic last minute strike from Danny Campbell gave Bromsgrove Rovers a deserved victory over Rothwell Town at The Victoria Ground.
The opening exchanges were pretty even with neither side troubling their respective goalkeepers.
Campbell came closest to opening the scoring in the 28th minute when his effort cannoned back off Lee Crockett's right hand upright fron Danny Scheppel's cross.
The visitors were reduced to ten men three minutes before the interval when Sam Maude was dismissed for a wild lunge on Paul Lloyd.
The second half was one way traffic as Rovers made their superior advantage count as Rothwell started to wilt under the pressure.
Gavin Winsper saw his effort hit the crossbar in the 62nd minute and three minutes later Crockett saved Jordan Street's swerving shot.
Just when it appeared the pressure would be to no avail up popped Campbell to volley home from the edge of the area after Rothwell failed to clear Winsper's long throw.
