PROMISING props Val Rapava Ruskin and Nick Schonert will be on “the England radar”, according to Worcester Warriors director of rugby Gary Gold.

The England-qualified duo have been key figures in Warriors’ front row since arriving at Sixways in the summer of 2014.

And Gold says he feels “very lucky” to have them at Worcester as they bid to stave off relegation from the Aviva Premiership.

“Val is a good player as are Nick and (hooker) Joe Taufete’e,” said Gold whose side claimed two points from a 40-33 defeat at leaders Wasps on Sunday.

“As a unit they are functioning very well.

“Val is a big, strong man and there’s no question we are very lucky to have those two props.

“You wouldn’t have thought they were at a club who are fighting relegation.”

Tighthead Schonert, 25, and loosehead Ruskin, 24, have both made 61 appearances and steered Worcester back to the top flight in their debut season.

Ruskin, whose father George played international rugby for Georgia, will leave Warriors at the end of the campaign to join rivals Gloucester.

But South African-born Schonert signed a new deal in September to remain at Worcester.

The pair have yet to be called up by England, who were recently crowned Six Nations champions.

But Gold was confident Ruskin and Schonert would have caught the eye of head coach Eddie Jones.

“Nick has got an outstanding shape about him as a tighthead and Val is a very powerful man,” Gold continued.

“I am sure they will both be on the England radar.”
