UNCERTAINTY surrounds the future of Chris Vui who director of rugby Gary Gold believes has “already committed” to joining another club for next season.

But Vui, who arrived at Warriors in December on a deal until the end of the campaign, insists he has “not signed anything so far”.

Since recovering from a groin operation, the Samoan forward has made a big impression in the number six jersey for Warriors.

He made his debut in Warriors’ Anglo-Welsh Cup clash at Cardiff Blues in February before starting four of his side’s next five Aviva Premiership games.

Gold said he would “definitely want him to stay”, but he understands the 24-year-old’s future had been decided before he took over the reins in late January.

“I do think he has already committed to somewhere else for next year,” Gold said.

“But I have been very impressed with him.

“I think it (the deal to move) probably took place before I got here, so it wasn’t anything that I had any say in.

“We did talk to him and we were keen for him to stay, but I think he had committed to somewhere else.

“We would definitely want him to stay.”

However, Vui admitted he had not put pen to paper and was focused on steering second-from-bottom Warriors clear of relegation trouble.

“I have not signed anything so far,” he said.

“This year I am with Worcester Warriors and if I can help my teammates, the coaches and the community stay where we are right now then that’s what I am going to do.

“I want to try to focus on what I am trying to do here and that’s helping my team stay in the Premier and anything that comes along it will just work out for itself.”

Vui captained New Zealand side North Harbour to the Mitre 10 Championship title last October before earning his first cap for Samoa against France.

He had represented New Zealand Under 20s and featured in the 2015 Super Rugby campaign for Auckland Blues.

Although an injury sustained on international duty disrupted his start, Vui said he had “enjoyed every moment” at Warriors.

“The environment here at Sixways is awesome,” he said.

“Before Gary came we were pretty much in the dumps really, but since he has come along he has really given the team belief that we can really push up that ladder.

“We have got so many good players here and I think he has really tapped into those and they have shown how good they are in every game.”

Vui added: “It is definitely a lovely city. I love it here, it reminds me of back home as it is nice, quiet and really chilled.

“The Premiership competition is somewhere that I could do really well in and showcase my talents across the world.”

When asked to clarify Vui’s future, a spokesman from Warriors said “nothing had been confirmed”.
