WORCESTER Warriors head coach Carl Hogg has urged his troops to quickly dust themselves down and prepare for Saturday’s Pool Five decider at Brive (2.30pm GMT).

Their chances of progressing to the European Challenge Cup quarter-finals will go down to the wire after claiming three points from a 24-24 draw with leaders Connacht at Sixways.

Saturday's result means Warriors are currently one of the best three second-placed teams with 15 points from five games.

But with other sides breathing down their neck Hogg is determined to keep their European quest alive by beating Brive in France and securing their place in the last eight.

“The draw obviously means we have got to go to Brive and get a result so it is going to come down to the last weekend,” Hogg said.

“But that’s something we have got to look forward to.

“We said we wanted to take this cup seriously and I think we have done up until now.

“It was frustrating that we weren’t able to pick up the five points but we have got three so we have got to dust ourselves down and go again.

“Rugby is about the will and want to go out and make things happen so that will be no different when we go to France next weekend.”

Warriors won 30-20 when they played Brive at home in October but have struggled on their previous visits to France.

“Whether it is the Premiership or the Challenge Cup to win on the road is a difficult task, especially in France,” Hogg continued.

“But we have got to make sure we get ourselves in the right frame of mind as we know what is in front of us.”

Will Spencer was ruled out at the weekend with a hip injury while skipper Donncha O’Callaghan and experienced centre Jackson Willison were also not named in the 23-man squad.

And Hogg said he would consider what team to field over the next few days as they gear up in preparation for the Brive clash.

“Clearly we want to progress in the cup and have given ourselves an opportunity to do so,” he added.

“But we have also got a responsibility to the whole of the squad to manage them over that nine-month period.

“The Premiership is still the foundation competition for Warriors but if we could create a performance that takes us through to the quarter-final that would be fantastic.”
