INJURY-hit Worcester Warriors back rower Dewald Potgieter is rumoured to be joining French giants Toulon in the summer.

The South African has not featured for Warriors this term due to a knee injury sustained in pre-season.

And there is speculation in France that the 31-year-old might leave Worcester at the end of the campaign in favour of a move to Toulon.

According to Midi Olympique Potgieter, who has won six caps for South Africa, has committed to the Top 14 outfit for the next two seasons.

Director of rugby Alan Solomons said Potgieter was contracted for another season with Worcester but refused to comment on the rumour.

“It is speculation,” Solomons said.

“In rugby, as you well know, there is plenty of speculation and I never comment on it.”

Since arriving at Sixways in February 2016, Potgieter has been hampered by injuries as he damaged his shoulder in only his fourth game in blue and gold.

After missing the rest of the campaign, the South African then suffered a further blow ahead of the 2016-17 season as he was forced to go under the knife again to repair a tendon tear in his left thigh, ruling him out for three months.

Potgieter featured 16 times that season and would have been hoping for better luck this term.

But in the opening game of pre-season against Hartpury he sustained a knee injury and has been recovering since then.
