DIRECTOR of rugby Alan Solomons is due to meet up with his new coaches as they begin their preparations ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

South African Rory Duncan will take over from Carl Hogg as head coach while Irishman Neil Doak will replace Sam Vesty as attack and backs coach.

The duo will join forwards coach Mefin Davies and defence and kicking strategy coach Omar Mouneimne to form Solomons’ coaching team for next season.

Warriors’ players will return for pre-season training in early June after being given five-and-a-half weeks off to recover.

But Solomons said he was keen to get together with Duncan and Doak in his family home of Belfast to go over their plans.

“Rory will probably come to Worcester towards the end of the month and the other lads will be here in June,” Solomons said.

“The coaching staff will gather on the Monday and then the players will return on the Thursday so we will have three days together before the players come in.

“Rory will also come over to Belfast and meet up with myself and Doaky during the break which will be good.

“I know all the boys pretty well, but it will be good to start things.

“Omar is in South Africa, but he knows Rory well and knows me well.

“Mef is in Wales, but he knows me well and will slot in easily.”

Duncan, 40, will arrive at Warriors after leading Cheetahs to third position in Conference A of the Pro 14. Doak, 45, will also begin a new chapter in his career after spending 23 years with Ulster.

The pair have both played under the vastly-experienced Solomons who said he was looking forward to working with them again.

“I think they are excited by the challenge,” Solomons said.

“I think the coaches will work together well and there will be good synergy amongst them and there is quality there too.

“It is an excellent coaching staff.”

Solomons has recently moved to Worcester and admitted Duncan was house hunting in the area.

“From what I can gather Rory will be looking for something near here,” Solomons added.

“I said to him to stay in and around Worcester.

“I am certainly very happy here as it’s really nice spot.”
