UPDATE: The Worcestershire Rapids and Yorkshire Vikings game was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

WORCESTERSHIRE Rapids will be looking to extend their superb NatWest T20 Blast unbeaten run to eight matches when they tackle Yorkshire Vikings at New Road tonight (5.30pm).

The Rapids, who currently top the North Group, saw their home game with Nottinghamshire Outlaws washed out last Friday and, prior to that, were on a six-game winning streak.

Seamer Charlie Morris has been added to director of cricket Steve Rhodes’ squad after an impressive display in this week’s LV= County Championship Division Two victory over Glamorgan.

Moeen Ali is unavailable following his selection in the England squad for next week’s first Investec Test with India at Trent Bridge, so Hereford-born 21-year-old Morris has been drafted in.

The young bowler has picked up 30 championship wickets at a fraction over 26 and is in a 13-strong squad.

All-rounder Ross Whiteley is also included after having an injection to ease a shoulder problem.

Rhodes said: “Yorkshire are playing really well, but we will just try to approach the game like we have with every single match really — to make sure we are doing our best to do our job right.

“Hopefully, if we can do that, then it should be good enough to take care of the opposition.

“Again, they are a team you must respect and they have got some terrific players. We will be doing our best to be on our ‘A’ game.

“It is quite tough when we haven’t got Moeen playing for us in a game like this, but we’ve got other guys who have come in and stood up and that is what is required in squad cricket.”

Meanwhile, Saeed Ajmal will play for the MCC against the Rest Of The World in a star-studded line-up at Lord’s tomorrow to mark the 200th anniversary of cricket first being played on the ground.

Sachin Tendulkar captains the MCC and Shane Warne the Rest Of The World in the 50-over contest, which is a sell-out.

Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell has already played his part in the celebrations.

He figured for the MCC against Hertfordshire at Lord’s in a repeat of the first fixture at the ground in 1814.

Saeed has taken 56 wickets in eight LV= County Championship matches for Worcestershire this season.

Some of the star names on show include Kevin Pietersen, Brian Lara, Brett Lee, Muttiah Muralitharan, Rahul Dravid and Adam Gilchrist.
