JACK Shantry admits it would be “massive” if Worcestershire Rapids secure a NatWest T20 Blast finals day spot for the first time.

Shantry has been counting down the days to tomorrow’s quarter-final against Hampshire at a sold-out New Road – the county’s first home tie in the last eight.

It is his third quarter-final after the away clashes with Yorkshire in 2012 and Surrey 12 months ago.

He said: “We can’t wait for Friday. It’s the first home quarter-final in the club’s history. Hopefully having home advantage this time can prove the difference and get us to finals day for the first time.

“That would be massive. I’ve been at the club seven years now and never got to fi - nals day.

“I haven’t won a trophy in my career and I think a lot of the players are the same, although Daryl Mitchell won the one-day competition about nine years ago.

“We’re all very, very hungry to succeed and can’t wait for the quarter-final.”

Shantry has plenty of respect for Hamp - shire who are bidding to reach a sixth successive finals day
