WORCESTERSHIRE Rapids' NatWest T20 Blast match with Leicestershire Foxes at the Fischer County Ground this evening has been called off.

The umpires decided the ground was unfit for play.

It is the second wash-out between the two counties in 48 hours after Wednesday's Royal London One-Day Cup match at New Road suffered the same fate.

Both sides collected one point apiece in the North Group.

A Foxes statement said: “Aylestone was affected by flash flooding on Tuesday and the Fischer County Ground resembled a lake with the water subsequently gathering in the far corner of the ground.

“Further rain has fallen either side of that particular deluge and although the club brought in heaters to try to dry everywhere out, conditions remain sodden and unfit.

“An inspection has been conducted by match umpires Rob Bailey and Russell Evans and they have concluded the ground is unfit for play today.”

High-flying Rapids are scheduled to return to action in tomorrow's televised meeting with Notts Outlaws at New Road (2.30pm).
