WORCESTERSHIRE'S return to Specsavers County Championship Division Two action was delayed by the weather on the opening day against Derbyshire at the 3aaa County Ground.
Play looked unlikely after overnight and morning rain left puddles of water on a saturated outfield.
The umpires quickly decided to take an early lunch at 12.30pm with an inspection planned for 1pm.
But a further deluge delayed that inspection and when the officials had another look at 2pm play was called off for the day.
The two sides will try again at 11am tomorrow when the forecast is much improved although still with the risk of showers.
