THERE will be a new name on the Canterbury County Cup on Sunday when Halesowen and Hagley contest the final of the T20 competition at New Road (10am start).

The match - which will be played with pink balls - is a prelude to the 30 overs a side 'Legends' match between former Worcestershire and Warwickshire players in aid of Daryl Mitchell's benefit year (2pm start).

Ombersley lifted the inaugural trophy in 2014 and Worcester triumphed in the final 12 months ago.

The gates will open at 8am and entry to the two matches is £5 for adults, £2 for children or a family ticket (2 adults and 3 children) for just £12.

Worcestershire cricket development director Tom Hill said: "It is a great opportunity for two local clubs to come and play at New Road.

"They are really special days for anyone, let alone club cricketers who probably always aspire to play here."

The Worcestershire Legends team includes Roger Sillence, Richard Stemp, Dave Banks, Ben Smith, Vikram Solanki, Martin Weston, Matt Mason, Ben Scott, Gavin Haynes, Duncan Catterall, Matt Rawnsley, Gareth Andrew, Stephen Moore, Phil Newport and Graeme Cessford.

The Bears team will include Tim Ambrose, Dougie Brown, Alan Richardson, Dominic Ostler, Ashley Giles, Michael Powell, Neil Smith, Wasim Khan, Anurag Singh and Ant Botha.

On the same day, the Hobsons Brewey Over-45s final will take place between Redditch CC and Pershore CC at Bromsgrove (2pm).

Hill said: "It is a competition aimed at players over 45. There are a lot of talented cricketers over the age of 45 still playing the game "Some of these guys grew up playing cricket at a club and it is about getting the group of mates back together again and playing the game. How better to do it than over a pint of cider?

"We've got so many kids playing cricket now that sometimes it is the older guys that miss out on the opportunities to play. It is a really good fun competition that a number of people have come back to the game to enjoy."

The finals day of Worcestershire Cricket's under 9s Soft Ball Competition will also be held on Sunday at Himley Ten teams will compete in the eight overs a side tournament in Wombourne, Himley, Lye, Pedmore, Astwood Bank, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster, Alveley, Worcester and Rushwick.

Hill said: "It is of my favourite days. Seeing that many young kids out there enjoying the game, it is cricket in its purest sense really. They are brilliant days because you get the parents, grandparents, kids all excited."
