WORCESTERSHIRE batsman Joe Clarke has set his sights on bettering his performances of 2016 in all three formats this summer.

Clarke was Worcestershire's leading run-scorer in the Specsavers County Championship with five centuries and 1,200 runs includuing a career best 194 versus Derbyshire in September at New Road.

But the England Lions player was disappointed with his form in the NatWest T20 Blast and says he wants to be "more consistent" in red ball and white ball cricket.

Clarke said: "My goals last year were to get involved again with the Lions, and to be the leading run scorer for Worcestershire, and to get myself onto the Lions tour (of Sri Lanka).

"But you can always strive to be better. In some games, I didn't score as many runs as I would have liked. I sometimes didn't go on when I should have gone on.

"Sometimes I didn't even get past zero so that is something I will look to build on this summer and doing something similar with higher sort of goals really.

"Will I be aiming for more than 1,200 runs? For anyone, that should always be the case. You always want to better what you have done before.

"I think everyone at the club, no-one would say that they wouldn't want to get more wickets or more runs than they did last year.

"That's the same for me. I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself to do it but that is what I always expect of myself, that in all three competitions I better my performances of last summer."

In terms of the T20 Blast, Clarke said: "I was disappointed with my T20 performances last year. I got a go throughout the competition and that is something I really do want to do better in this summer.

"I learnt more about my T20 game and I want to take that into the summer and have a better sort of competition.

"But it is not just T20 cricket. I want to be more consistent in all three formats."
