DILLON Pennington made his ICC Under 19 World Cup debut as England defeated Namibia by eight wickets in their opening group match in Queenstown, New Zealand.

The Worcestershire paceman shared the new ball and sent down six overs for 33 runs.

Pennington sent down four overs in his initial spell for 21 runs and returned to bowl a further two.

He also picked up a catch at short fine leg after Namibia skipper and opener Lohan Louwrens top edged a Will Jacks delivery.

Namibia were restricted to 196-9 in 50 overs after electing to bat with Middlesex leg-spinner Jack Brooks picking up three wickets.

England made short work of their target with skipper Harry Brooks (59 not out) and vice-captain Will Jacks (73no) securing victory inside 25 overs via an unbroken stand of 130.

Pennington and England will next be in action at the same venue against Bangladesh on Thursday.
