WORCESTERSHIRE Women’s Rapids need to win both Vitality T20 Division One fixtures this weekend to ensure survival at the top level for another season.

Defeat to Kent and Yorkshire at Kidderminster last Sunday left Rapids second from bottom in the table with only Yorkshire below them.

This Sunday they face title-chasing Sussex (1.30pm) and mid-table Nottinghamshire (4.30pm) at Welbeck near Mansfield.

Batsman Clare Boycott said: “We’re still positive and confidence is high. We know we’re good enough to win matches and put in good performances at this level.

“There’s no doubt we need to perform to the best of our ability this weekend.

"We didn’t put enough runs on the board in either game last Sunday and need to learn from that.

“We didn’t take enough responsibility with the bat.

"It’s something we’ve talked about and hopefully we can improve on our batting displays and score big this weekend.”

Boycott's consistent run-scoring has played a big part in Rapids reaching the promotion play-offs in 50-over cricket.

She added: “Our bowling has been a strong factor so far. We’ve consistently made early breakthroughs and kept pressure on the opposition. We need it all to come together, batting and bowling.”
