ENGLAND Lions go into the final day at Worcester looking to finish off India A.

The tourists need 410 runs to win at Blackfinch New Road and only have seven wickets remaining.

Lions had taken control of the clash with 423 all out over the first two days thanks to former England captain Alastair Cook’s 180 from 268 balls.

Dawid Malan (74) and Nick Gubbins (73) had also helped put the hosts on top.

India’s first innings was then finished off for 197 today with Surrey seamer Sam Curran devouring the batsmen with 5-43 from 11.5 overs.

It could have been worse but for India’s Prithvi Shaw (62), Rishabh Pant (58) and Ajinkya Rahane (49).

There were also two wickets apiece for Matt Fisher and Chris Woakes in his comeback from getting injured against Pakistan in early June.

With Lions well in command they were content to declare on 194-5 in their second innings.

This time Cook was bowled by Mohammed Siraj (3-55) for just five but England’s run demands were not great.

Skipper Rory Burns scored 38, Malan 56, Ollie Pope 50 not out and Warwickshire’s Woakes 28.

India A were put in again swiftly as a result and suffered a tough end to the third day’s play, slumping to 11-3 from 4.2 overs.

Openers Murali Vijay and Shaw were dismissed for ducks while Mayank Agarwal fell for one.

Jamie Porter (2-4) and Curran (1-7) took the wickets.
